How do I know if virtual therapy is right for me?

Do you take insurance and what are your rates?

For therapy appointments I am not in network with insurance for many reasons. One primary reason is that insurance companies can give restrictions to our therapeutic work.  It is important to me that I can provide you with quality therapy without worrying whether a certain diagnosis will be covered, if insurance will stop covering your sessions, or how insurance may use your information in the future. I believe that therapy decisions should be between you and your therapist to best support you.

It is also important to me that I am transparent about costs. The rate for a standard 50 minute therapy session is $130 but may vary depending on the type and length of appointment. Reduced cost appointment (sliding scale) availability varies. I keep several appointment slots available for individuals needing a reduced fee. If this is something you need, please inquire further.

-You also have the option to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement with a superbill that I can provide you. Many plans have out of network benefits. If you would like to know how much/if your insurance company will reimburse for therapy, you can call and ask them what reimbursement is for the code 90834 (the insurance lingo for a typical therapy session). Make sure to ask if you have a deductible that you need to meet before coverage kicks in. This can be a cumbersome process, but I have had clients reimbursed 40-90% of the cost of therapy sessions from their insurance company through using out of network benefits.  You may also use your HSA or FSA account

Benefits of private pay include:

When you use insurance, they may stop covering therapy sessions at their discretion. Therapy and treatment decisions will be up to you and your therapist

You are able to find the best therapist fit for you without undue limitation

There is more privacy with private pay, meaning I do not have to provide a treatment plan or your therapy records to your insurance.

Your insurance does not dictate how many sessions you can have or how long those sessions need to be
